Ehsaas Delivery Unit Established to Track Progress of BISP
Ehsaas Delivery Unit
The Ehsaas Delivery Unit (EDU) was recently launched in Islamabad by Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection. The main goal of this unit is to supervise and assess the progress of the Ehsaas program, which aims to provide support and assistance to those in need.
The EDU will also keep track of how well the program is being implemented and the achievements made under the “Performance Agreement” signed with the Prime Minister.
This special unit has four main tasks:
- Planning and organizing the Ehsaas program effectively.
- Monitoring and evaluating the program’s performance to ensure it is working well.
- Using data analysis to understand the impact and effectiveness of the program.
- Providing advice and support to make the program even better.
Furthermore, the EDU will engage and communicate with the people involved in the program and other stakeholders to ensure its success. The ultimate aim is to improve the implementation of the Ehsaas program and better the lives of those it supports.
Ehsaas Delivery Unit Reviews Progress
Arbab Shehzad, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Establishment, recently checked the progress of the Ehsaas Delivery Unit. The purpose of this unit is to quickly address any complaints related to the Ehsaas Programme, which aims to support and assist people in need.
During the review, he was updated on two important systems: the PM Agreement Monitoring System and the Ehsaas Digital Monitoring Dashboard.
Ehsaas is a significant initiative launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan on March 27, 2019, aimed at reducing poverty and providing social protection on a large scale in Pakistan. It stands out because of its well-designed strategy, involvement of multiple sectors, strong governance, integrity policy, and dedicated funding to implement the program nationwide. The initiative includes over 140 different programs and policies, all working together to combat poverty from various angles.
Over the last two years, Ehsaas has made great progress. It has been strengthened through the introduction of a new biometric payment system, a platform for requesting assistance through SMS, a digital survey system, and an advanced data analytics mechanism for wealth profiling.
The success of Ehsaas has been recognized internationally, with praise received at various global events hosted by organizations like the United Nations, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and more.
The government remains committed to making Ehsaas even more effective and efficient in reaching those who need support the most. The aim is to continue working towards reducing poverty and improving the lives of people in Pakistan.
Ehsaas Delivery Unit Launched to Improve Ehsaas Programme
The Ehsaas Delivery Unit (EDU) has been launched at the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division (PASSD) to improve the Ehsaas program. Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, officially inaugurated the unit with the presence of Muhammad Ali Shahzada, the Secretary of the Division, and the EDU team.
The main aim of the EDU is to make sure that the Ehsaas program is implemented effectively and that its progress is carefully assessed. It will also keep a close eye on achieving the goals and targets set under the recently signed performance agreement with the Prime Minister.
A specialized team has been assembled to handle the implementation of Ehsaas initiatives across various ministries, provinces, and sectors.
Dr. Sania explained that the EDU’s main goal is to oversee the implementation and progress of the Ehsaas program. While ministries, divisions, and agencies are responsible for delivering the initiatives, the EDU will coordinate and track their performance to ensure effective and positive outcomes.
The government is committed to strengthening the Ehsaas program and serving the people in need more efficiently across the country. The EDU will play a vital role in ensuring the success of over 140 Ehsaas initiatives, ultimately contributing to poverty reduction and providing essential social support to those who require it.
